Tamai Sports is a not-for-profit community impact organisation which provides children, aged 8–13 from the Tamai Learning Cluster in East Christchurch, the opportunity to participate in sport by removing any socio-economic barriers. Tamariki are selected for the programme by the principals of the decile 2–4 schools involved in the Learning Cluster. These children have had no previous exposure or opportunity to be involved in team sports and are selected by the school’s based on having the greatest need of the benefits that come from participation.
