The trust is soon to be operating "Waka IwI/the People"s Waka" a Māori-led educational and environmental experience, based in Manapouri. The waka is a traditional sailing waka hourua (11m long double hulled) with the aim to teach environmental stewardship, traditional wayfinding skills and mātuaranga Māori.
