Te Waahi started as an idea to help secure a stable income for a free Dunedin based youth program we run called Tamariki Together. The cost of running this free program has taken a toll on our pockets so we purchased this food truck to help keep our program free for all Rangatahi.

We’d like to briefly introduce our program named Tamariki Together also known as T&T, the name itself is what we do ‘Bring children Together”. Our main aim was to create a safe place for all young ones to come together, do activities but most of all building a family-like bond through the art of fun which allows them to develop relationships and team bonding skills with their surroundings.

We also run a music program named Music Heals, it gives our young artists an opportunity to create, record and express themselves by having complete access to Music Heals’ professional recording equipment and utilizing the expertise of our facilitators. Us as leaders want to make sure our Rangatahi have different ways to express their emotions and sometimes it’s hard for them to talk about challenges they may be facing in life so this is why Music Heals will benefit a lot of our youth to help bring their barriers down. We also have access to navigation stations for troubled families who need that extra guidance and support on what steps to take to resolve any challenges they may be facing.
